LivingArcana.com Announces Open-Source 3D Game Engine for Apple iPhone
LivingArcana.com Announces Open-Source 3D Game Engine for Apple iPhone
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) November 14, 2007
Gregory Ray, a lead organizer of LivingArcana.com announced today that he has hired the Brazilian programmer, Gutemberg Ribeiro, of “Conceptus” an open source game engine, to port his engine over to Apple’s iPhone platform. The port of the game engine will remain open source and will be available under LGPL license to allow true 3D game development on the iPhone.
When asked why Gregory would make this available for free and pay for it out of his pocket he was quoted “I am trying to stay true to the LivingArcana.com ideal of having a free community ran online game. The 3D engine is vital to the project but it is also only a very small part of a very large project and once we integrate it into the LivingArcana.com project I have no other plans of using it for other projects. Why would I want hundreds of hours to goto waste?” The first public release of Conceptus for the iPhone is scheduled for early 2008.
The Conceptus game engine which already runs on the Windows, Mac, Symbian and even the Nintendo DS platforms will bring ParticleFX, BSP, Octree, PagingLandscape, Zip Compression, GlGenerator, GlPostProcessor, OpenAL, and an Extension Loader to the new iPhone. This benefits of these is that it will enable game developers to focus on writing game code and will leave the low level hardware code to the Conceptus engine.
It should also be mentioned that this project is being done without the support of Apple. Apple has said they will be offering official 3rd party support for native applications February 2008, however, the developers behind LivingArcana.com have been developing for the iPhone platform using a community released SDK for the iPhone. Gutemberg was quoted “We will need to update our engine to run off the the official Apple SDK when made available. Until then we will continue to use the community based SDK and just cross our fingers that Apple will appreciate what we are doing for their mobile platform.”

Used Apple iPhone Buy-Back Program Announced at ipodjuice.com
Used Apple iPhone Buy-Back Program Announced at ipodjuice.com
San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) July 23, 2008
Milliamp LTD, which owns the website ipodjuice.com and has been providing iPod battery kits for more than three years, has just announced a brand new buy-back program for used first generation Apple iPhones.
The dollar amount a person can receive for a used iPhone depends on several factors, including the capacity and overall condition of the device. While the company would prefer a functioning iPhone in great condition, they will also accept iPhones that are in less-than-perfect condition.
“A used iPhone in good working order is valuable to our iPhone repair company,” said Anthony Magnabosco, the owner of the ipodjuice.com website.
A gently-used iPhone can be used to test out new parts as they are received into the iPod repair shop before being used, or could perhaps even be used to repair other iPhones, since finding reliable parts for the Apple iPhone can be challenging.
However, if your iPhone has taken a dip in water, don’t even think about donating it: even if you find that the phone still works, it is likely the water has damaged (or soon will damage) the components inside the device, rendering the phone un-repairable.
Fortunately, the high-quality ipod and iphone parts that you receive from ipodjuice.com are tested out and covered for one full year, which is far more than what most iPod repair and iPhone repair companies offer.
“Customers are often surprised to find that their old Apple iPhone can be sold for a very good price and they can then use that money to purchase a brand new iPhone,” continued Magnabosco.
To learn how you can sell your used iPhone to Milliamp LTD and their iPhone buy-back program, please head to http://www.ipodjuice.com/first-generation-iphone-buy-back-program.htm.
The ipodjuice.com website and the company Milliamp LTD are in NO WAY associated with Apple Computer, Inc., just in case you were mystified about that. ‘Apple’, ‘iPod’, and ‘iPhone’ are trademarks of Apple Computer, Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.
